Social networks are one of the most popular ways to communicate with other people. In the last couple years I finally got into the whole social network thing. I was not planning to get one, until a few years ago a friend of mine came over and said that she was going to make me MySpace whether I liked it or not. Since then, I have really enjoyed having one. It is fun to keep in touch with people and to see their photos because I do not often get to see friends from out of town. Also, it has been a good way to find old friends from high school. You can see what everyone is up to and how they are doing and it’s just a lot of fun.
In our ever changing world, it is likely that social networks will change too. It is likely, that they will become even more popular which will connect billions and billions of people together. Also, I think that instead of typing messages, we will be able to leave a recorded message using a camera. Likewise, networks will also be able to talk to one another live over the internet making it faster and easier to talk to one another. Although the future is unclear on how far networks will change in the next 10 years, the point is it will change. Soon enough the way we do thinks now in our high tech world will seem like something out of the Stone Age. It is amazing to think just how fast we have come, and just how far we may go.

math is boring
I have to say that I am a math nerd. I enjoy being able to work out a problem and find one answer to it, but I'm not sure how to solve the problem I'm having in my homeschool geometry class. Everything I say is really boring. I feel like all I do is talk, but I'm not sure if they are actually getting it. I don't want them to just spit out facts back at me, I want them to use what they are learing. So if anyone has any ideas or tools or games I'm open to them. I would totally love the help :)

after a half hour I finally figured out how to get my flickr and my blog to work together. I have beaten the computer at it's own game WOO HOO!! : )

Computers in Education class was so much fun this week. Different from the usual college group activities, this project was not one of the same old boring activities that most teachers give out. I loved the project we had in class on Thursday. Instead of being just another group project where the students have to read and then share with the class, we actually go to get up, get creative, and go outside and have fun. Although I am not totally sold on the whole technology thing, this activity was not hours sitting in front of a computer monitor but it was not an out dated way of doing things in the classroom. I also enjoyed the project because instead of emailing back and forth, we could sit as a group and decide together what needed to get done and how we were going to do it. Another thing that I thought was helpful was when it came time to present our photos we all had a small part in it not just one person; it can be nerve racking going up and presenting your work to the class alone. All in all I have no complains about the project at all. I would use it in my own classroom and if for some reason I would not use it there then I would find somewhere else to use this idea.

Shift Happens
After watching the Shift Happens YouTube video, I have to say I was a little shocked. It was incredible to see just how much time we spend watching television, on the internet, and sending text messages. Although these technologies are convenient, I feel that perhaps we are taking a leap into something that is making us unsocial. I am a little old fashion and believe that taking in person is the best way to get to know someone and cracking a book open is better than just using Google. Email can be so impersonal. Of course there are many cases where the internet is ideal, but I believe that it is not the solution for everything.
It is amazing to think just how far we have advanced over the years. We have gone from the days of horse drawn buggies to cars with built in navigators. With the world rapidly transforming, one has to wonder what is next? How will we change the world for the better? It is strange to think that we can connect the world together with the click of a button, yet we cannot solve world hunger. We may not be able to solve all the problem in the world, but it seems to me that we could do so much more instead of playing on the computer.
